Call Darlene Broach an Uptown enthusiast. “The number-one thing I’d tell people is that I love it here,” said Darlene, who is closing in on four decades as an Uptown resident.

Darlene is a lifelong Cincinnatian. She was born at University Hospital (known at the time as General Hospital), grew up in College Hill and lived in Cumminsville before buying a home in Avondale in 1970. She finds Avondale to be a quiet neighborhood with friendly, caring neighbors, many of whom share the same deep Uptown roots.

“We really have a family feeling in the neighborhood,” she said.

Darlene’s favorite Uptown hangout? The numerous parks in Uptown. “I take my dog to the park every day.”
