Uptown Consortium, Inc. (UCI) received the Minority Business Accelerator’s (MBA) Goal Setter of the Year Award for its work with WEB Ventures, management and economic inclusion business. The Cincinnati Business Courier, the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber and the Minority Business Accelerator recently awarded Uptown Consortium, Inc. (UCI) with the Goal Setter of the Year award at the 2019 CLIMB Awards (Cincinnati Lifts Inclusion and Minority Business). This award highlighted UCI’s partnership with WEB Ventures LLC around its economic inclusion initiatives, especially surrounding the Uptown Innovation Corridor.
The Cincinnati Business Courier and the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber hosted the second annual program on November 21 to honor individuals and organizations in Greater Cincinnati who helped the region achieve success through building a diverse workforce and practicing and developing inclusive culture.
“It’s incredibly gratifying that the Consortium’s inclusion initiative is being recognized. Economic inclusion is a top priority for us, and it’s something that the Consortium strives for every day,” said Beth Robinson, UCI’s president and CEO. “We couldn’t do this important work without WEB Ventures and we’re grateful to have them as a partner in Uptown.”
UCI, in partnership with WEB, is increasing contracting, job and investment opportunities for local minority business enterprises (MBE), women business enterprises (WBE) and Uptown residents. UCI’s economic inclusion efforts are designed to ensure that Uptown residents and businesses benefit from the development happening in their communities and to provide new opportunities for small and large MBEs and WBEs.
To date, UCI has secured preferred developer agreements with all partners including goals for MBE, WBE and Uptown resident inclusion throughout the life of the developments. UCI has also worked with the Uptown anchor institutions on various projects such as the UC Gardner Neuroscience Institute and engaged community residents around Corridor plans and current and future job opportunities.
