How to Get Involved in Uptown Innovation Corridor Planning

With many new developments coming to the Uptown Innovation Corridor in Avondale, the Uptown Consortium (UCI) is continuing its community engagement initiatives to ensure that residents and community members have a voice in the future of their neighborhood. UCI is dedicated to engaging neighborhood residents and stakeholders in all phases of the development process.

However, UCI understands that not all community members are able to attend specific events, so UCI provides a variety of opportunities at different times and locations for members to connect with UCI, our development partners and our economic inclusion team.

For Uptown residents and stakeholders interested in learning more about upcoming projects, there are many ways to get involved:

Uptown Innovation Corridor open houses

UCI frequently hosts Uptown Innovation Corridor open houses at different locations around Uptown to share information regarding the planned developments and the neighborhood inclusion efforts. UCI, the Corridor’s developers and the economic inclusion team will be at the 1819 Innovation Hub grand opening on Friday, October 5 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. All community members are welcome to attend. In addition, UCI will also host another open house in November. The date and place will be announced soon on the Uptown Innovation Corridor Twitter page.

Avondale Community Council

UCI regularly presents at the Avondale Community Council. General body meetings are hosted on the third Tuesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. at the Avondale Business Center at 3635 Reading Road.

Job opportunities

WEB Ventures is UCI’s diversity and inclusion consultant supporting the Corridor’s economic inclusion initiatives, including resident job growth and programming. If you are interested in finding out more about the job opportunities in the Corridor, you can submit your resume to WEB here.

Avondale Development Corporation

UCI partners with the Avondale Development Corporation to support residential and economic development initiatives in Avondale. ADC is working with UCI to integrate  the findings from the Avondale Residential Market Intelligence Report into the Avondale Quality of Life Plan currently under development.  The goal is to create a strategic housing plan for the neighborhood based on extensive public engagement. ADC also supports the Avondale Property Enhancement Program.

While this list includes many of our ongoing efforts, it’s far from a comprehensive look at all past and future community engagement initiatives. UCI is always seeking ways to connect with neighborhood stakeholders and receive valuable input on land use and development planning.
