TriHealth Opens New Women’s Center at Uptown Hospital

TriHealth recently opened its new Women’s Services OB-GYN Center at Good Samaritan Hospital in Uptown. In addition to providing comprehensive pregnancy and gynecological healthcare, the center works with community partners—including Queens Village, The Legal Aid Society (M-Help), Sweet Cheeks Diaper Bank and Cradle Cincinnati—to offer additional support and necessities to new mothers. The center’s team of healthcare workers, social workers and community partners allows it to be a “one-stop shop” for support services for expectant and new moms.

“The center’s goal is to empower all women, inclusive of race, ethnicity, religion, or sexual orientation, to be active participants and have a voice in their own health care. The collaboration of multiple providers, including physicians, midwives, and nurse practitioners, enable all patients to receive the full spectrum of women’s’ health care from gynecology to obstetrics,” said Nima Patel, MD, MS, FACOG, Program Director for the TriHealth/Good Samaritan OB-GYN Residency Program.

The center features 16 exam rooms, two procedure rooms, two large centering rooms, an ultrasound room and a lactation area. There is also a meeting area for community partners, healthcare workers and social workers to gather when needed.

“The goal of the center is to deliver comprehensive, coordinated pregnancy and gynecological health care to all women,” said Michael Marcotte, MD, TriHealth Director of Quality and Safety for Women's Services, in a news release. “Expanding on the learning from collaborative projects, StartStrong and M-HeLP, developed in the OB/GYN center, the team uses a coordinated, patient-centered approach to ensure all patients receive high quality seamless care.”

The center opened on August 24 to serve patients in Uptown and the Greater Cincinnati region.

“The patients love it, everything is updated, bright, and open. They appreciate the “one-stop shop” we offer with all of our streamlined services,” said Shannon Stretch, Clinical Manager of the OB/GYN Center of Good Samaritan Hospital.

Patient care in the center is provided by OB-GYN residents under the direction of highly trained and experienced faculty physicians. Good Samaritan Hospital is the oldest and largest private teaching hospital and specialty healthcare provider in Greater Cincinnati, serving the community since 1852.
