Outside of Munich, Germany, Zinzinnati may rank as the place where Oktoberfest is celebrated just as much. After all, Oktoberfest Zinzinnati is America’s largest Oktoberfest. Thankfully, there is a perfect place to celebrate before, during or after Oktoberfest at one of the historic treasures of Uptown Cincinnati, Mecklenburg Gardens.
In honor of Cincinnati’s Oktoberfest, which takes place September 16-18, Uptown Consortium, Inc. (UCI) reached out to Mecklenburg Gardens’ co-owner, John Harten, to create a video feature showcasing the local treasure and a few experiences visitors can expect.
Mecklenburg Gardens was established in 1865 and stays true to its roots by providing delectable German cuisine along with traditional German lagers, dunkels, hefeweizen and pilsners on tap. Guests can enjoy a round of beer in the Black Forest bar or they can stay for a plate of the chef's delicious fare under the beautiful grape vines in the authentic German Biergarten.
Located in the heart of Corryville at 302 E. University Avenue, Mecklenburg Gardens has been a destination and local favorite for 150 years. It is an important piece of the cultural, social and gastronomical history of Cincinnati and a symbol of the Queen City's rich German heritage. In the late 1800s and early 1900s, the restaurant served as a meeting place for many of Cincinnati's German residents to learn about the American way of life. Staying true to tradition, the restaurant continues to host meetings of German Heritage groups, prepare traditional German dishes complemented by superb American classics, and serve the finest steins of German Lager in the city.
Visit Mecklenburg Gardens’ website or Facebook page. You can also make reservations by calling the restaurant at (513) 221-5353 or sending an email to: mecklenburgsevents@gmail.com.
